CAS No. 111286-86-3
Sepimax™ Zen is a pre-neutralized polymer renowned for its ability to independently create transparent gels or serve as a thickener and stabilizer in emulsions and surfactant systems. Specifically engineered to withstand up to 10% salt in an aqueous gel, it eliminates the need for neutralization. Sepimax™ Zen synergizes effectively with fatty alcohols, significantly increasing viscosity in emulsions.
For transparent aqueous gels, sprinkle Sepimax™ Zen over the aqueous phase, allowing it to hydrate without stirring for a few to 8 hours. Alternatively, sprinkle it over the aqueous phase, blending at the lowest speed (about 500 rpm), gradually increasing to 1500 rpm while adding electrolytes over approximately 10 minutes to facilitate hydration.
In cream gel formulations, incorporate Sepimax™ Zen into the hot or cold oil phase, followed by adding the oil phase to the water phase. The manufacturer suggests that up to 25% oil can be integrated into the gel when combined with natural polymers like xanthan or guar gum, agar agar, pectin, cellulose derivatives, or gelatin at 1%, although this may vary depending on the formulation.
For lotions, Sepimax™ Zen serves as a stabilizer for up to 15% oils and 4% electrolytes at concentrations as low as 2%. Without electrolytes, it can stabilize up to 20% oils.
Synergizing with fatty alcohols (cetyl, cetearyl, or behenyl alcohol) at up to 1% in the oil phase significantly boosts viscosity. When combined with surfactants, Sepimax™ Zen enhances foam density, thickening both anionic and non-ionic surfactants. At 2%, it generates soft and creamy foam and lather.
Sepimax™ Zen is suitable for low pH gels, accommodating up to 4% glycolic acid, 0.1% magnesium chloride, and 0.2% EDTA.
Compatible with silicones, mineral oil, emollient esters (such as Lotioncrafter Ester AB, Lotioncrafter FCO), and other natural oils and butters, Sepimax™ Zen functions as an anionic emulsifier and is not compatible with cationic ingredients.
